NACFE Announces Messy Middle Dataset and Workshop
From Executive Director Mike Roeth
Well, it’s been quite a year for NACFE. We planned and executed another successful Run on Less event including hosting a Bootcamp and interviewing 105 people at 13 fleet locations. We produced a downloadable dataset for anyone who wants to dig deep into how the 14 trucks performed. We also presented or participated in 110 trade shows, conventions and meetings and we updated our idle reduction report.
For 2026 we plan to analyze the data from Run on Less – Messy Middle via a potluck style workshop, publish five reports, continue to research and report on fast charging battery electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and update some of our Confidence Reports. We also will complete the 10th Fleet Fuel Study. Side note: given the growth of alternative fueled powertrains we are considering renaming the Fleet Fuel Study. We are open to your suggestions for a name that more accurately reflects market conditions.
NACFE staff will once again be out on the town at a variety of industry events where we will continue to report findings from Run on Less – Messy Middle and also share what we have learned about how to make vehicles, regardless of powertrain, more efficient. We look forward to seeing you at these events to listen and learn from your experiences. We appreciate your real-world insights on how efficiency technologies are performing.
The depth and breadth of our work would not be possible without the support of the trucking industry. So I am going to make a shameless plug and ask you to consider supporting NACFE with a donation so that we can continue to provide unbiased information on the best ways to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the trucking industry.
