Fleet Profiles for Run on Less – Messy Middle Are LIVE!
From Executive Director Mike Roeth
I am so excited that we have begun sharing the fleet profiles of the 13 fleets that are participating in Run on Less – Messy Middle with you. On August 1st we posted the first profile and every Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the month we are revealing a new profile.
So far, we have published profiles of Wegmans, The Pilot Company, Saia, 4Gen Logistics, Nevoya and UPS. Still to come are profiles of Albert Transport, JoyRide Logistics, Frito-Lay, Schneider, Kleysen Group, Mesilla Valley Transportation and Penske.
These Class 8 fleets represent a wide range of duty cycles for Class 8 vehicles, even within the long haul segment. Many return to base in medium and long distance applications, while others are in truly over-the-road irregular route long-haul operations. These fleets represent a wide range of duty cycles, a variety of powertrains in their vehicles, and operate in a variety of terrains and driving conditions.
I encourage you to review the profiles so you can see just how the fleets are making the various powertrain solutions work today in their businesses. The profiles bring the fleets’ efforts to life and provide insight into the innovative things they are doing to improve freight efficiency.
We also are putting the finishes touches on the dashboard so that when the Run kicks off on September 8th, you will be able to see how these trucks are performing on their real-world routes. The dashboard was a little more challenging for this Run because we had to accommodate a range of powertrains, but NACFE’s Director of Engineering, Yunsu Park, along with our web development partner LTL MTN, have done a great job making sure we can share real-world data regardless of fuel type.
Once the Run starts, I encourage you to check the dashboard so you can see how the various trucks are performing. In late October we plan to share some initial findings with you followed by an initial report that covers the who, what, when, where, why and how of the Run. In 2026, we will publish another report that will provide an in-depth analysis of the findings.
I have to again thank all our sponsors for their efforts to make this Run possible. We could not do this without their generosity. We still are seeking sponsors to help us ensure the Run is a success; contact me if you are interested.
