Spotlight http://nacfe.org/ Fri, 06 Nov 2009 23:55:23 +0000 http://nacfe.org/?p=22 RUN ON LESS is ON!  See NACFE’s recent Newsletter for information on the Run that will take place this September.

Today, in Nashville, TN at the Technology and Maintenance Council meeting of the ATA, NACFE announced publishing their 15th Confidence Report, one on Engine-Driven Accessories.  Eight technologies, four in Chassis and four in Powertrain were studied and details and tools are presented to help fleets consider these available, but mostly emerging technologies.  See http://truckingefficiency.org/confidence-reports and contact us with any questions or comments.

We continue to work on bringing a cross country fuel economy demonstration to North America during 2017.  See details here, and give us a call or an email on how you might be able to help us with it!

On September 28th, NACFE completed our first Confidence Report on an emerging technology, Two-Truck Platooning downloadable free here.  It is look at the benefits, consequences and payback expected for linking two trucks together at about a 50 feet following distance.  The report concludes that is a profitable first step on the pathway to more autonomous trucking.

Mike shares some thoughts on 2015 and 2016 here and on the Future of Trucking here.

August 24, 2016 NACFE Releases it’s 5th annual Fleet Fuel Study Report.  It can be downloaded for free at truckingefficiency.org.  Please have a look at it.  We expect it will help you in your effort.

NACFE recently released our 12th Confidence Report on Tractor Aerodynamics at the ACT Expo in Long Beach.  See here to see our findings, download the report and view our Confidence Ratings.  Contact us with questions or comments.  Watch this video of our press conference.

NACFE has now developed a Fleet Tool so that you can benchmark your fleet’s adoption experience with the 14 Fleets in the NACFE 2015 Annual Fleet Fuel Study.  This should help you assess the nearly 70 technologies available to lower your fuel expenses.  Manufacturers, this is a great tool for you as well.  Check it out!

Trucking Efficiency released today a full Confidence Report on all Trailer Aerodynamics Technologies. It can be downloaded free at this truckingefficiency.org link.

NACFE and the CWR released today a new Confidence Report on Determining Efficiency – how to have higher confidence in the percent fuel savings of technologies.  Our News Bulletin can be downloaded here.  This is a new kind of report for us, which aims to deliver decision making tools for fleets, manufacturers and others.  See the RESOURCES section of www.truckingefficiency.org.  The videos are helpful to understand how to use the more detailed data available at the site.

We are happy to announce that Jack Roberts will be assisting NACFE with a few connected vehicle projects including a Confidence Report on Two-Truck Platooning. Jack has been covering the commercial vehicle and heavy-duty truck market as well as the North American freight industry for over 20 years. In his last role, as executive editor for Commercial Carrier Journal, he emerged as one of the leading voices covering and commenting on the unprecedented influx of advanced technology into the North American trucking industry, as well as the continuing evolution of today’s global logistics network in addition to covering new vehicles and truck components. Roberts is graduate of the University of Alabama and lives and works in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Join us for our next workshop in Indianapolis and view wind tunnel testing of aerodynamic devices on Class 8 trucks at ARC Indy.  Be with key leaders such as Owner Operator Henry Albert, Jack Roberts of CCJ, Sam Waltzer, EPA SmartWay, Jim Sharkey of PSI, Nussbaum and other key fleets, Wabash and other aerodynamics suppliers, ARC Indy, as well as the Trucking Efficiency team from NACFE and the CWR.  It will be a great day well spent in your journey to lowering fuel costs and learning more about GHG regulations.

Help us help you lower fuel costs and manage Greenhouse Gas Regulations. See here on how.

NACFE is proud to announce the leaders for our Aerodynamic Confidence Reports on Tractor and Trailer Aerodynamics

In order to facilitate the wider industry’s trust in and adoption of technologies, NACFE and CWR formed Trucking Efficiency and began a series of reports, called “Confidence Reports,” which will take an in-depth look at technologies one-by-one. Confidence Reports provide a concise introduction to a promising category of fuel efficiency technologies, covering key details of their applications, benefits, and variables. The reports are produced via a data mining process that both combs public information and collects otherwise-private information (which is shared with Trucking Efficiency for the purpose of the reports), in order to centralize an unparalleled range of testing data and case studies on a given technology set. These reports are the kingpin of the Technology Guide at truckingefficiency.org.
