  • I want to invite you to join us for our next Trucking Efficiency Workshop on technologies in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 26. These workshops are highly effective events where leaders in the industry roll up their sleeves and openly discuss, even debate, the advantages and disadvantages of adopting various technologies. Come learn while working alongside manufacturers, other fleets, test organizations, etc. in order to determine how we, together, can improve the efficiency of tractor trailers and cut fuel bills significantly.   • ACT Expo in Long Beach (Slides)
  • On May 5th Trucking Efficiency hosted 110 industry professionals at a workshop held in conjunction with the ACTExpo in Long Beach CA. The event agenda included comments by Scott Perry, Ryder System, a leader dialogue by Bill VanAmburg, CALSTART, Mary Aufdemberg, Daimler Trucks, Dr. Tim Frazier, Cummins Westport, Mike O’Connell, Frito Lay and Scott Perry, Ryder System and all participated in small group table discussions on various technologies. Attendees learned from the leaders how to overcome challenges to adopting or selling technologies and offered many ideas during the small groups to accelerate the uptake of these solutions. This meeting was a huge success and the slides from the event can be seen here. Thanks to all, please look forward to more Trucking Efficiency Workshops in 2014.
  • Trucking Efficiency Summit in Long Beach on May 5—NACFE will join with the Carbon War Room to deliver the second Trucking Efficiency Summit in Long Beach on May 5 to share best practices on technology adoption and to collectively work with the industry. Our first Trucking Efficiency Summit was held in Chicago in October and was a big success; NACFE organized a panel discussion for the 50 attendees on 3 fuel efficiency technologies: 6x2s, anti-idling systems and tire pressure systems.  The meeting was kicked off by speakers: Scott Perry of Ryder Systems, Mike O’Connell of Frito Lay, Steve Phillips of Werner Enterprises, Bill Kozek of Navistar, John Nelligan of Meritor and Jeremy Kranowitz of Sustainable America.   • TruckingEfficiency, is a joint effort between NACFE and the Carbon War Room to double the freight efficiency of North American goods movement by 2016 through the elimination of market barriers to information, demand and supply.  Together they led 54 industry participants in a Summit on October 7th in Chicago to highlight and discuss three sets of technologies to improve the efficiency of tractor trailers.  Workshops were conducted to openly debate the benefits and challenges with their adoption and trucking fleet, truck OEM and component manufacturing leaders shared their thoughts.  The presentation slides are attached HERE and an article appeared in FleetOwner and a link is provided here.(New)
  • NACFE will join with the Carbon War Room to deliver a TruckingEfficiency Summit to share best practices on technology adoption and collectively work with the industry.  Details here .  After providing an overview of each technology, we will break into small workshops to openly debate the benefits and challenges of adopting them. Together, we will brainstorm actions to harness these benefits and limit any challenges.  Each workshop will focus on one of three specific technologies: Tire Pressure Systems, 6×2 Axles and Anti-Idling Devices.  The workshop will be complemented by exhibits of available technologies with manufacturers on-hand for any questions.

March 9th Meeting

The NACFE inaugural meeting brought 75 industry leaders together in Chicago in November 2009, where the urgency to form the Council was clear.  In September 2010, in Dearborn, MI, freight efficiency was forefront where attendees at the 2nd Driving innovation meeting rolled up their sleeves and progressed the work of the Council.  Information, including industry expert presentations, on these past meetings, is available in the media section.
